I don’t think I’ve ever shared music stuff on my blog, but I’ve had the songs from Frozen stuck in my head for days. Surprise surprise. This is why I can’t see movies in the theater, I need to be able to hit repeat immediately when they’re good. :|

Huntin’ around YouTube I was blown away by all the women they got to sing for Elsa in the various language dubs. But one was not on Disney’s official multi-language sequence that, just personally, I want to share with you. ‘Olgu nii’ by Hanna-Liina Võsa. The Estonian version of ‘Let it go’. Her voice is just… lets just say I’ve got it on repeat while I work.

Announcing the Winner of my 1k Sculpture Contest, tiinasaurus !!
Knuk is a beautifully designed gryphon that I am excited to integrate into my new class.  I will be able to cover a lot about fur and feather textures as well as proportions and color schemes.  He will be really fun to pose with that lanky, yet stout form.
Congratulations, Tiina!  You will be receiving a free enrollment in my class once it opens and will have the chance to receive the finished sculpture once I am done filming.
Thank you to all that entered.  I got some really awesome designs submitted, but ultimately, Knuk was the best fit for the needs of my class.
Honorable Mentions
I would like to include a few honorable mentions that really stood out to me.  These entrants are entitled to 10% off my commission prices if they want to commission me for these characters.  They will also be  guaranteed a slot in any round of commissions that I offer this year OR they may choose a 50% off coupon for my class once it opens.

anemicshoe for her delightful “gardeners”.  These have such a clever design.  I love the contrasting textures and the personality that each one shows.  Very believable!

dokibird for her simple but lovely Maple.  I am a big fan of designs like this that are well composed and have excellent color schemes.  How can you not love that face?

jsug for her beta fish dragon, Ozai.  I love that I can look at this design and literally see it gracefully swimming through the water.  Wonderful integration of real life elements into a fantasy character.
Thank you again for all that entered and reblogged the contest post.  I gained a bunch of new followers because of this contest and I really appreciate the support.
I will be filming my class in a few weeks and hope to have it ready for enrollment over the summer.  Stay tuned and thank you everyone for making my contest a sucess!

::SHRIEK:: OMG you guys, I am so ready to take this class you have no idea! For months now I’ve been itching to play with clay again and just haven’t had a reason to make time for it. So thank you, Emily for a perfect reason. I’m thrilled that Knuk fit your needs for your class and look forward to summer! :)

Woo Hoo!!  I have now hit 1000 followers here on Tumblr!  Thank you guys so much for supporting me and my art.  As promised, I have a pretty epic contest in store for you all.
About the Contest
This summer, I will be unveiling my new online sculpture class over on Skillshare.com.  It will largely follow the same format as my book, Creature Sculpt, but will be video based.  It will also have a forum where you can interact with other students as well as myself!
In April, I will be filming content for this class.  I will be creating several different sculptures during the various demonstrations.   I already have a few designs in mind, but I thought it would be cool to use a character designed by one of my viewers too!  And this is where the contest comes in.
I am looking for your coolest, original character and creature designs to base one of my class sculptures off of!  Most all original characters are eligible, but I am NOT looking for human/humanoid characters as my class is going to be animal and creature based.  These must be 100% original designs and not fandom-based in any way.  I will select the design I find the most interesting and/or will best help me to demonstrate my sculpting techniques.
What You Can Win
* The winning character will be featured in my sculpting class, and the artist will be credited to the design.
* The winner will also be given the chance to have the finished sculpture shipped to them, free of all costs except for shipping and packing (to be paid via PayPal).
* In addition, the winner will get free entry into my new class!
How to Enter
* Follow me, emilySculpts, here on Tumblr.
* Reblog this post, leaving the original text and image intact.
* To your reblog, add your personal entry information.  This should include up to 5 images of your original character as well as any supplemental text.  You may include pose sketches or composition ideas as well if you have any sculpture-specific ideas.  Turnaround sheets are helpful but not required.
* You may enter as many times as you’d like.  Multiple characters are allowed in each reblog.  Or if you come up with another idea after your first entry, you may reblog the post again.
Official Rules, Please Read in Full
* Entries will be accepted through April 1, 2014.  I will close polls that evening at 11:59 EST.
* Winner will be announced on April 5, 2014.  Please be certain to watch your feed and messages on this day.  I will make a public post announcing the winner and will also message the winner privately.  If you do not claim your prize within 48 hours, I reserve the right to choose a new winner.
* Entries MUST be submitted on Tumblr via a reblog of this post.  No other entries will be accepted, no exceptions.
* Character must be your own, original creation.  No fan-based characters will be accepted.
* Sorry, no human/humanoid characters this time.  This is for a creature and animal based class.
* Submissions must be art-based; no lengthy text descriptions or stories.  (Short textual explanations of certain aspects are fine.)
* You may submit art that someone else has created of your character so long as proper credit is given.  Also be sure to receive permission from the artist before posting their work.
* While you may make suggestions, I will be determining the final pose, setting and size of the sculpture.
* I reserve the right to use my own artistic license to change certain aspects of your character to meet the needs of my class.  I may also make overall style changes.
* I reserve the right to use photos and videos of the sculpture while it is both in progress and completed in any way I see fit.  This will include virtual classroom use as well as advertisement.
* I will not claim any sort of rights to your character and you will be credited as the creator where appropriate (ie, in the video or class credits).
* If you want me to ship you the finished sculpture, you will be responsible for covering all necessary shipping and packing costs.  These costs will vary depending on where you live, but will generally be around $30-70.  This MUST be paid for via PayPal.
* If no suitable characters are submitted, I reserve the right to not pick a winner.  But I don’t see that happening :)

Throwing Umi & Knuk into the ring. Wooooooo found this a little late but there’s still time if you guys want to get in on it. :D

Just an update on the art theft…The guy at the STAG Clothing company ( http://stagclothing.tumblr.com/ ) claims that his image, “however strikingly similar it may be to her [my] image, is totally his design, that he came up with on his own” and added that it was inspired by the Jagermeister logo (which, btw, looks very different from my drawing: http://de.amiando.com/eventResources/3/L/lZTX1mEoFD2IpM/JM_Logo_Positive.gif ).So…here is my original art next to the STAG Clothing logo, along with an overlay of the two, to prove that their logo is indeed a direct trace of my art, the only changes being: one antler copied and flipped around, to make both antlers fully symmetrical, the line of the lip removed, and the fur line between the eyes removed. Every other outline, antler shading detail, and fur markings, down to the individual hairs, is identical, as you can see.He also claims that: “We as a company have always paid for designers, and would never copyright someone else’s images and pass them off as our own.” Well, I for sure haven’t gotten one cent of payment from this! And this bit was copied from their FB about page: “As well as hard work, our design process has set us apart from many, a huge amount of our designs and collections are created in house, however we have also had the pleasure of working closely with some amazing and creative designers which has enabled them to put their spin on the brand and its products.”  So I guess “working closely with creative designers” and “creating designs in house” actually means stealing from various artists whatever images they happen to come across on Google and then editing them to suit their own purposes? :P~Xenia/SD

Unbelievable.

I’ve had this happen to me before, nearly the exact scenario with a big name brand clothing manufacturer.
If STAG had any brains in the heads of the folks in charge, they would have seen Xenia’s letter, said “Augh one of our artists did a Bad Thing”, settled with Xenia in private to make it right, and it would have been resolved.
Instead, they said that their copy is totally original (when it obviously is not) so now we need to let them know that social media says “NOPE, you don’t get to do this.” If the internet has one superpower, it’s the power to get angry.Feeling spunky about this issue? You should. Yep! It’s not every day I find another Tiina, even on the internet. :)
